不做 Autonomous a2z

Autonomous a2z, a self-driving technology company, has signed a 11 billion won autonomous driving export contract with Space42, an artificial intelligence (AI) company based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the company said on the 4th. The two companies signed a contract for a "smart mobility convergence project" and agreed to convert the vehicles used in "TXAI," an autonomous driving service Space42 operates in the UAE, and to expand the service. The contract is worth 27.91 million dirhams (AED), or about 11 billion won.
Through the contract, Space42 will fully replace the TXAI service, which it had operated with Chinese-made autonomous vehicles, with a2z vehicles. The vehicles to be supplied total 19, including eight units of "ROii," a Level 4 driverless robo-shuttle independently developed by a2z, along with five Kia PV5-based autonomous vehicles, five Carnival-based autonomous vehicles, and one MAN bus-based autonomous vehicle. ROii will be produced in Korea and shipped to the site as completed vehicles in the second half of this year, while the other vehicles will be procured and modified locally. a2z plans to build integrated control infrastructure, including a control system and a remote-control cockpit required for local operations, and to provide a hailing service that links the supplied vehicles with Space42's application.
Some of the vehicles will be deployed on Saadiyat Island and Yas Island in Abu Dhabi in the second half of this year to begin trial operation of the robo-shuttles. After verifying local road conditions and usage demand, the service model will shift to demand-responsive transport (DRT) and tourism shuttles after 2027. As the UAE is pursuing a transition to smart mobility, there are expectations that the service area and operational scale will expand, potentially leading to large-volume exports of autonomous vehicles.
a2z has received various export support from the government throughout the process, from technology development and demonstration to entry into the UAE market and export. The company developed the autonomous driving logic for public road driving in the UAE at K-City, opened free of charge by the Korea Automobile Testing & Research Institute (KATRI) of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority. Following the completion of a joint venture establishment contract on the occasion of President Lee Jae-myung's state visit to the UAE in 2025, the company delivered a national core technology export approval to the UAE early this year together with former Presidential Senior Secretary for AI Future Planning Ha Jung-woo. However, the outbreak of war between the United States and Iran afterward blocked the air and sea routes to the Middle East, delaying the originally scheduled export.
Han Ji-hyeong, CEO of Autonomous a2z, said, "We have proven the potential for autonomous driving technology, built through domestic technology development and various demonstrations, to expand into overseas exports and local services." He added, "As global competition for AI hegemony intensifies, we will expand demonstrations in diverse environments like the United States and China going forward to develop end-to-end autonomous driving technology and take the lead in helping Korea leap forward as a leading nation in physical AI."
