The National Growth Fund will provide LG Display with a low-interest loan of 1.3 trillion won to support efforts to secure a commanding competitive edge in the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) industry.
According to financial industry sources on the 23rd, the Financial Services Commission (FSC) held a meeting of the National Growth Fund's investment review committee on the 21st and approved the plan. The commission plans to hold a fund management review council soon to finalize the support package.
The support is aimed at helping Korea's domestic industry maintain its technological lead in the OLED field. LG Display plans to invest a total of 3 trillion won, adding 1.5 trillion won in equity capital and 200 billion won in a private syndicated loan to the National Growth Fund's support, to advance its small and medium-sized OLED production technology.
