新世界集团与OKO成立合资公司，拟首期投入5亿美元开发Aman/Janu奢华酒店项目

Shinsegae Group has joined hands with global real estate developer OKO Group to launch hospitality development for global luxury hotel operator Aman Group. As Shinsegae Group Chairman Chung Yong-jin took over as CEO of Shinsegae Property last month, the group's real estate development business is expanding into overseas markets.
Shinsegae Group said on the 21st that Chairman Chung Yong-jin and OKO Group Chairman Vladislav Doronin recently held a signing ceremony to establish a joint venture (JV) between Shinsegae Property and OKO Group at the Josun Palace hotel in Seoul. OKO Group is a company that has overseen the development of hotels and residences under the Aman Group brand. Both OKO Group and Aman Group are owned by Chairman Doronin.
The two companies plan to raise $500 million (about 750 billion won) in initial investment for the joint venture. The joint venture will first pursue the development of hotels and residences under Aman Group's luxury brands, Aman and Janu. They also agreed to cooperate on mixed-use commercial real estate development projects at home and abroad.
Aman is a global hospitality company founded in 1988. It holds a vision to build warm and welcoming retreats resembling elegant private residences. Amanpuri in Phuket, Thailand, its first property, is regarded as the resort that first embodied this vision. Aman operates 36 hotels, resorts and residences across 21 locations worldwide, ranging from cities to remote areas.
Chairman Chung and Chairman Doronin, who will lead this venture, hold global reputations in the development and investment of luxury residential, commercial and hospitality real estate. Having built a portfolio of 84 buildings totaling more than 7.4 million square meters worldwide, Doronin has continued to successfully deliver original landmark projects in collaboration with the world's leading architects.
This agreement came about as OKO Group took note of Shinsegae Property's track record in mixed-use development projects. Shinsegae Property introduced a new form of mixed-use shopping mall to Korea through "Starfield." Shinsegae Group Chairman Chung Yong-jin said, "This strategic partnership reflects our conviction that Shinsegae Property's development model, proven in Korea, can be effectively applied in the global hospitality market." He added, "Through close cooperation and mutual complementarity, we will set a new standard in the global luxury hospitality market."
Chairman Doronin said, "It is a great honor to form a partnership with Shinsegae Group, led by Chairman Chung Yong-jin, who possesses deep expertise in real estate development and financial markets." He added, "I share Chairman Chung's long-term vision to create original projects that resonate with travelers, residents and communities around the world."
He went on to say, "Going forward, based on the expertise of both companies, we will explore outstanding development opportunities together on the global stage."
