三星证券二季度和上半年利润创历史新高

Samsung Securities (016360.KS) posted record-high results for the first half and on a quarterly basis, driven by balanced growth in its wealth management (WM) and investment banking (IB) divisions.
On the 4th, Samsung Securities said its second-quarter net profit on a consolidated basis reached 488.2 billion won, up 108.1% from the same period last year and 8.3% from the previous quarter, marking a record high on a quarterly basis. As a result, cumulative first-half net profit also rose 94.4% year-on-year to 939.1 billion won, approaching 1 trillion won.
Operating profit for the same period was 675.8 billion won, up 119.0% from a year earlier. It also increased 10.9% from the previous record set in the first quarter of this year, setting a new all-time high on a quarterly basis. Cumulative first-half operating profit was 1.2853 trillion won, up 99.8% year-on-year.
The WM division led the results. Amid a booming stock market in the second quarter, expanded sales of financial products drove retail customer assets up 31.6% from the previous quarter to 652.4 trillion won, while the number of high-net-worth (HNW) customers rose 27.5% to 572,000. Net fees from wrap accounts increased 52.1% from the previous quarter to 49.5 billion won, and retirement pension deposit assets rose 20.7% to 28.1 trillion won, with the wealth management business continuing to grow across the board.
The IB division also contributed to the improved results, centered on structured finance. Backed by structured finance revenue of 79.4 billion won, the IB division's performance rose 26.1% from the previous quarter to 90.6 billion won. The company explained that the successful completion of deals including the initial public offerings (IPOs) of Chaevi and Justec, and the Hugel acquisition financing deal, also contributed to the improved results.
