KT (030200.KS) has upgraded Genie TV's "My Neighborhood Benefits+" service to launch "AI Local Information," which delivers local government policies, events, and daily-life information through AI-generated video.
KT has added the new "AI Local Information" service to "My Neighborhood Benefits+," the telecommunications industry said on the 15th.
"My Neighborhood Benefits+" is a service that provides information and coupon benefits for nearby restaurants, convenience facilities, and health- and education-related local stores based on the location where the set-top box is installed.
To this, KT has added "AI Local Information," which uses the company's own AI technology to reconstruct key policy and event information published on each local government's official website into video, audio, and subtitle content. The service selects information relevant to local residents and produces videos of around one minute, arranging them by region in the Genie TV home menu "My Neighborhood Benefits+" and on service channel 111.
Through this, customers are expected to easily check local information via TV, while local governments can effectively deliver information needed by residents without building a separate platform.
KT currently provides information for 16 metropolitan-level local governments. In the second half of the year, the company plans to introduce a product that supports AI content production and region-tailored broadcasting so that city, county, and district-level governments and public institutions can use it for policy promotion.
To mark the launch of the "AI Local Information" service, KT will also run an event through the 3rd of next month. Among those who watch an "AI Local Information" video on Genie TV's "My Neighborhood Benefits+" and enter via the QR code on the screen, a total of 116 people will be selected by drawing to receive various prizes.
Kim Byung-jin, senior vice president of KT's Media Business Division, said, "KT Genie TV's 'My Neighborhood Benefits+' is a life-oriented media platform that delivers local information more easily and intuitively based on AI technology."
