Samsung Electro-Mechanics (009150) CEO Chang Duck-hyun laid out a vision to strengthen the competitiveness of core businesses, including artificial intelligence semiconductor components, by expanding collaboration with suppliers.
Chang attended the 2026 Supplier Site Visit Communication Forum held at Fine Technology in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province, on the 2nd. "To realize technologies for future industries such as AI and automotive electronics, competitiveness in components and materials must provide the foundation," the CEO said. "Let us secure core technologies on the basis of close trust and cooperation, and create growth opportunities in the global market."
Samsung Electro-Mechanics is also working to reinforce its supply chain through suppliers to raise competitiveness in fast-growing AI semiconductor component businesses, including multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) and flip-chip ball grid arrays (FC-BGAs). At the forum, Chang shared the company's management status and key directions for each business division, and toured Fine Technology's manufacturing site with supplier executives to discuss mutual cooperation and support measures.
The communication forum is held annually so that Samsung Electro-Mechanics and its suppliers can strengthen technological competitiveness and build strategic partnerships in response to rapidly changing market conditions in areas such as AI and automotive electronics. About 40 supplier executives attended, including Kwon Hyuk-suk, chief executive of MK Chem & Tech and chairman of the supplier council. "We will sustain a solid partnership through technological innovation and thorough quality management," Kwon said.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics has maintained cooperative relations for 40 years since launching its supplier council in 1986. It does business with about 900 companies at home and abroad, including 40 council members. Under an agreement to strengthen the supplier ecosystem signed last year with the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership, the company plans to invest a total of 200 billion won in supplier support over three years from 2025 to 2027. Along with financial support such as the creation of a mutual growth fund, it will pursue improvements at manufacturing sites for productivity and quality innovation, as well as specialized technical training and customized capability programs for different job levels.
