Lotte Engineering & Construction and Hyundai Engineering & Construction (000720) have jointly won a 1.4 trillion won public redevelopment project in the Chunghunbu area of Anyang, Gyeonggi Province.
The consortium was selected as the contractor for the Chunghunbu public redevelopment project at a union members' general meeting held the previous day at the main auditorium of Anyang City Hall in the city's Dongan district, according to construction industry sources on the 30th.
The project site is located around 768-6 Chunghun-dong in Anyang's Manan district. The redevelopment will produce 19 buildings ranging from four basement levels to a maximum of 49 floors above ground, comprising 3,856 residential units along with support and welfare facilities. Construction costs are estimated at about 1.4278 trillion won.
The consortium proposed "TRE VISTA" as the name for the new complex. The name combines "TRE," the Italian word for the number three, with "VISTA," meaning view. The plan is to build a landmark complex representing the area by making use of views spanning the Anyangcheon stream, Mount Suri and the city center.
The site offers strong access to green space, with Chunghun Park and Anyang Saemul Park nearby. Schools in the vicinity include Seoksu Elementary School, Anyang Middle School and Chunghun High School. The site is also close to wide-area transport links including Gwangmyeong Station, which serves Seoul Subway Line 1 and KTX high-speed rail, and the Gwangmyeong bus terminal.
Lotte E&C and Hyundai E&C also proposed a design with differentiated landscaping and community facilities. Plans call for sunken gardens and a large plaza within the complex, along with a themed walking trail about 4.5 kilometers long. Green space and rest areas will be placed throughout the complex, and a sky lounge will be installed on the 32nd floor to allow residents to take in the surrounding scenery.
The contract marks Lotte E&C's first entry into the public redevelopment market. The company plans to assemble a dedicated team and expand its public redevelopment portfolio to include an urban public housing complex project near Yaksu Station in Seoul and the Myeonmok District 9 public redevelopment project.
"We brought together the construction experience and technical capabilities of both companies to prepare a specialized design," an official at Lotte E&C said. "Through close collaboration, we will do our best to advance the project so it becomes a large-scale landmark representing Anyang."
