Lindt & Sprüngli AG named Dieter Weisskopf interim chief executive officer with immediate effect as Adalbert Lechner departs, a leadership shakeup the chocolate maker said is aimed at driving its next phase of growth.
Weisskopf, currently vice chairman of the board and a former group CEO, will take the role on an interim basis, the Swiss company said in a statement Monday.
Lindt said it expects to appoint a permanent successor in the second quarter of 2027. Lechner is leaving after 33 years at the company.
The board “concluded that Lindt & Sprüngli requires new operational leadership to return to consistent, strong growth and to capture opportunities in all its markets,” the company said.
The focus in the coming months will be on returning Lindt’s European business to growth while building on strong performance in North America and market-share gains in Asia-Pacific markets including Australia, China and Japan, Weisskopf said.
Separately, Ali Kulein, currently CEO of Lindt’s Austria business, will succeed Michal Spiller as head of Germany, effective Oct. 26. Head of Global Sales Fabian Reinhardt will replace Kulein in Austria on the same day.
