Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. canceled some flights to and from Hong Kong International Airport on Sunday as Typhoon Noul approached the city.
Flights scheduled to arrive or depart between 1:15 a.m. and 6 p.m. were canceled and a number of others will be delayed, the airline said in a release.
Operations will resume when the typhoon passes the city, and affected passengers will be rebooked on alternative routes, Cathay said.
Tropical Storm Noul is expected to strike the southern Chinese coast to the east of Hong Kong late Saturday or early Sunday. It’s poised to pack sustained winds of up to 144 kilometers (89 miles) per hour, the China Meteorological Administration said.
Heavy rainfall is set to affect the region, which has already experienced a wetter-than-normal month.
