ING Groep NV(INGA.NL)
ING Groep NV (ADR)(ING.US)

- ING 此前已完成多笔 SRT(正文即列出其第三笔 SRT 及100亿美元在谈交易),本次只是扩展到项目融资资产类别的常规操作,不构成超预期催化。

Dutch pensions manager PGGM has agreed to take on part of the risk on a portfolio of ING Groep NV loans backing the energy transition.
The significant-risk transfer is tied to a reference portfolio of €5 billion ($5.6 billion) of loans for projects in sectors such as energy, telecommunications and data centers in developed European and Asian markets, the firms said in a joint statement seen by Bloomberg. The SRT includes a so-called forward-flow feature that allows ING to increase the size of the reference portfolio, subject to certain conditions.
The deal is moving ahead despite heightened risk-aversion, as investors navigate soaring yields on the back of rising government debt levels, war and inflation. Theo Korver, head of capital management at ING’s wholesale bank, said the risk transfer was still met with solid demand from investors.
“We see price ranges widening compared to before and we see more scrutiny on specific sub-sectors,” Korver said in an interview. At the same time, “we’re still happy with the overall availability of investor appetite.”
SRTs are high-risk, high-yield investments that typically insure a first loss or a junior tranche of a loan book, generally equivalent to somewhere between 5% and 15% of a portfolio’s value. PGGM, which oversees some €270 billion in pension assets, is among the most active buyers of SRTs. Unlike some of its peers, however, the firm says it won’t use debt leverage to bolster returns on its investments in banks’ risk transfers.
In the current market, PGGM is also aware it needs to be “selective and see what deals you think are worthwhile and are well structured and go for those,” said Alien Pauw, director of credit-risk sharing at the pensions manager. “We are not allowed to use leverage, and we will also not use leverage given that leverage is already inherent to these type of transactions.”
Most of the underlying projects in the portfolio behind the ING SRT directly contribute to the energy transition, the bank said. The transaction is ING’s first large-scale SRT involving project-finance assets and lays the foundation for a broader risk-sharing partnership between ING and PGGM, it said.
