Halliburton(HAL.US)
SLB(SLB.US)
Baker Hughes(BKR.US)

Halliburton Co. is predicting years of growing demand for oil field services as nations in the Middle East rebuild energy assets and infrastructure damaged in the Iran war.
“We are another three months into one of the largest energy disruptions in history,” Chief Executive Officer Jeff Miller said Tuesday in the company’s quarterly earnings statement. “I expect the work to restore production, rebuild inventories and strengthen energy security will drive multi-year demand growth for oil field services.”
Halliburton’s views are noteworthy for the global oil-and-gas industry given the company’s international scope and focus on selling equipment for fracking and well drilling. Such insights are key at a time when oil field contractors are grappling with the impacts of two major wars that have thrown the energy industry into disarray.
Halliburton said it expects “mid-single digit” revenue growth and operating margins of about 15%, an improvement of about 200 basis points. The outlook assumes a flat North America market and doesn’t require any recovery in North American fracking, it said.
In the third quarter, Halliburton saw its biggest revenue boost from its Middle East/Asia region, where it earned $1.4 billion — an 8% jump from the second quarter. The gains were mainly from higher activity in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, according to the statement.
Rising oil prices fueled by conflict in the Middle East have motivated shale producers to expand drilling and fracking to provide alternatives to Persian Gulf crude supplies. The fleet of rigs drilling US oil wells averaged 451 during the quarter, 8.4% higher than the year-earlier period.
Halliburton reported adjusted operating income of $731 million in its third quarter, beating the average analyst estimate of $729.9 million.
The company’s shares rose as much as 6.4% before regular trading in New York.
Halliburton is the first major oil contractor to announce quarterly results, to be followed by SLB on Friday and Baker Hughes Co. on Oct. 27.
