Palantir Technologies Inc. has settled the lawsuit it started against the Mayor of London after alleging that a multimillion-pound service contract with the city’s police force was scrapped over the company’s “values or ethics.”
The Metropolitan Police Service has kicked off a new competitive procurement process for the Unified Operational Analytics service, and both sides have agreed to settle their differences, according to a joint statement published on Wednesday. Palantir and the mayor’s office will withdraw their allegations, and the company will be treated “fairly and equally” in the procurement, according to their agreement.
Palantir won a £330 million ($434 million) contract with the National Health Service in 2023, then added a prominent deal with Britain’s defense ministry.
The company agreed that the decision by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime was “not based on Palantir’s values or ethics or any wider reporting about the company.”
The mayor’s office recognized that media reporting of comments by Mayor Sadiq Khan’s spokesperson “could have incorrectly created the impression that an assessment of the company’s values had been a factor in that decision.”
