RTX Corp. raised its full-year outlook for a third-straight quarter as the aerospace and defense manufacturer gets a boost from robust global air travel and rising demand for military hardware.
Adjusted earnings will be $7.65 to $7.75 a share this year, up from no more than $7.25 under its prior forecast, RTX said Tuesday as it reported third-quarter results that beat expectations.
Even the low end of the company’s new forecast tops the average of analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg. RTX also raised its sales and free cash flow guidance for 2026.
The results highlights how RTX continues to benefit from strong demand at its commercial aerospace maintenance and repair businesses as well as rising defense spending across North America and Europe. The maker of jet engines for Airbus SE planes and Tomahawk cruise missiles reported double-digit gains in organic sales at each of its three main businesses in the most recent quarter.
The company signed multiyear contracts valued at more than $40 billion last quarter to boost production of key missiles for the US Defense Department. It also received a missile deal worth $24 billion from the US Navy this month.
President Donald Trump has made mobilizing the defense industrial base a key White House priority as military planners grapple with replenishing thousands of missiles used during months of conflict with Iran. That effort has led to the Pentagon to award huge contracts to firms including RTX, Lockheed Martin Corp. and others.
US officials have also pushed to expand beyond traditional defense contractors and bring in commercial manufacturers to help bolster US munitions procurement. RTX this summer held preliminary discussions with General Motors Co. about how the two could increase domestic production, Bloomberg reported in June. RTX has also said it’s working to qualify additional suppliers in Europe for priority missile components.
Third-quarter adjusted earnings were $2.26 a share included a 25-cent gain from the recovery of tariffs that the Supreme Court struck down earlier this year, RTX said. Adjusted operating profit jumped 50% at RTX’s Collins Aerospace unit and by 29% at the Pratt & Whitney jet-engine division.
Pratt is continuing to resolve a durability crisis with its geared turbofan engines, which at one point led to hundreds of jets being grounded awaiting spare parts. The company in July said that it expects to clear the backlog by year end.
