不做 iShares MSCI Brazil ETF(EWZ.US)
(Petrobras)(PBR.US)
(Vale)(VALE.US)

Brazil’s economy saw a modest expansion in the second quarter after a stronger start to the year as high interest rates dragged on growth ahead of the presidential election.
Official data released Tuesday showed gross domestic product expanded 0.5% in the April-June period, compared to the previous quarter, just above the 0.4% median estimate in a Bloomberg survey of economists. On the year, the economy grew 2%.
The slowdown underscores the mounting challenge for President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of sustaining economic momentum as he vies for a fourth term in office. While fiscal support has increased before the October vote, consumers and companies are being buffeted by the benchmark Selic still at 14%.

Lula’s stimulus has helped cushion households from higher energy prices caused by the conflict in the Middle East while boosting his reelection prospects. But the resulting inflationary pressures are blunting the effect of tight monetary policy and unsettling investors who worry public accounts will weaken further if he wins.
Recent polls show Lula holding an edge over his main rival, Flávio Bolsonaro, though the race is getting closer.
Tight financial conditions and growing signs of weaker activity, including a cooling labor market, suggest the economy could lose further momentum in the months after the election.
