形态:未观测到见光死/高开低走模式,因未运行 event_study(无真实可锚定的同类事件与标的)。

Private markets funds are set to wait longer than other asset managers to tap an influx of investors in the wake of Germany’s €500 billion ($580 billion) pension reform.

While brokerages are preparing to offer exchange-traded funds and other liquid products in new pension accounts that start in January, these probably won’t include so-called European long-term investment funds until later, according to Hosna Houbani, an analyst at Scope Group.

That’s because individual private market funds don’t yet have criteria that will determine if they will make the cut, Houbani, who tracks alternative investments, said in an interview from Frankfurt. The relevant government guidance is expected in September, she said.

Germany is shoring up its pensions by leaning more on fund managers who are looking forward to tens of billions of euros in annual inflows. Private equity and credit firms successfully lobbied to be part of the system, yet the key relevant measure of the risk they take has been criticized as being too blunt.

European rules state that this “Summary Risk Indicator” should be calculated on a scale of one to seven based on a fund’s market and credit risk. Private market funds generally score particularly well on volatility because their valuations tend to be less frequent.

“This is not the whole risk that you should be looking at with a private market fund,” Houbani said.

To be included in the new German pension accounts, funds need an SRI of five or lower. Some 46 of 53 evergreen ELTIFs analyzed by Scope meet that threshold. In addition to private credit and equity, ELTIFs also include other asset classes like infrastructure or real estate.

Houbani said the upcoming guidance may address necessary liquidity features, such as monthly calculations of net asset value, or how often redemptions are allowed. Another question is what happens if a fund with an SRI of five or below moves to six or higher, she said.

Even after the requirements are clear, it will take time for ELTIFs to establish themselves in pension accounts and their success will depend on distribution channels, said Houbani.

“It could be very promising, but it will be a bit difficult right now to seize this market,” said Houbani.
