Anthropic PBC filed publicly for an initial public offering, a major milestone ahead of the first-ever listing of a frontier AI model company. Here are five things investors should be looking for in the weeks ahead.
1. More Financials. Anthropic’s IPO filing filled in a lot of gaps in the public’s understanding of the business, but there are still plenty of questions to be answered. The company’s spending commitments on items such as computing power and chips may be disclosed with an amended filing in the coming days. Don’t worry, you can just ask Claude to summarize it.

2. The Offering Terms. Companies need to have their IPO filing on public display for 15 calendar days before they can move forward. You can expect Anthropic to disclose terms of the deal in an amended filing, Bloomberg News reported, shedding light on how much money the company and the selling shareholders are planning to raise and at what target valuation. Anthropic is aiming for the IPO to haul in as much as SpaceX’s record-setting debut did, or more.
3. Start of Formal Marketing. Companies considering going public on US exchanges typically discuss their finer qualities with potential investors for months, but the so-called roadshow is when it kicks into high gear. The arrival of the offering terms means the company will begin formally briefing investors on how great they are and why you should buy as much of their stock as you can get your hands on.
4. Taking Orders. The 22 banks working on Anthropic’s IPO will fan out soon after the terms are set and start taking orders from institutional investors, while retail brokers are expected to start taking indications of interest. If the demand is really hot, companies may decide to increase the number of shares sold or the potential price.

5. Pricing and Trading. After about a week of marketing, bankers stop taking orders and in a smoke-filled back room — or maybe just a Zoom call — they and the company decide on the final price per share and set the other terms of the deal. The following day, a market begins to form with indications of where the shares might open, and usually by around midday, trading begins.
