Deutsche Telekom AG has named Dhananjay Mirchandani as its next chief financial officer, part of a number of executive changes at the top of Europe’s biggest telecommunications company.
Mirchandani, 51, succeeds Christian Illek, who is leaving the company in April after two decades, Deutsche Telekom said in a statement on Wednesday. Mirchandani joined the company in 2019 and has served in a number of executive roles including head of group controlling, which is responsible for financial planning and performance management. Illek, 62, decided to not renew his contract.
Deutsche Telekom also appointed Jan Hofmeyr as chief technology officer and a board member, replacing Abdu Mudesir. Mudesir left the job earlier this year to lead global networks and technology at Verizon Communications Inc.Hofmeyr was previously at Amazon Web Services, where he oversaw the company’s Telco Industry business.
Chief Executive Officer Tim Höttges, who is contracted through 2028, is navigating increasing competitive pressures in the US, where Deutsche Telekom holds a majority stake in T-Mobile US Inc., as well as its German home market. Höttges has steadily bought more of the US company and explored a combination with T-Mobile that would create the world’s largest telecom company.
