Yuhan获韩国循环经济总统奖并披露减废与包装优化成果

Yuhan (000100) has received a presidential award for its contribution to the transition to a circular economy through waste reduction and improvements in pharmaceutical packaging.
The company said on the 4th that it won the presidential award in the meritorious organization category of the Circular Economy Leading Company Awards at the 18th Resource Circulation Day event held at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. The award, hosted by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and organized by the Korea Environment Corporation, recognizes companies that have contributed to reducing waste and promoting recycling.
Yuhan improved its resource circulation efficiency by overhauling the waste classification system at its Ochang plant, its main production base. The changes lifted the plant's circular use rate by 30.2% from 2021 levels and lowered its final disposal rate by 17.2%. The company also cut a total of 180.7 tons of waste last year by using the country's certified circular resources program.
Judges also gave high marks to the company's efforts to reduce material use in drug packaging and distribution. Yuhan replaced paper inserts for injectable products with digital e-labels and, for some products, printed the insert information directly on the outside of the packaging box. It also simplified packaging structures from double to single layers and adopted shrink-film packaging for certain products, applying eco-friendly design across production and packaging.
"It is all the more meaningful that our employees' resource circulation efforts have been recognized in the year marking our 100th anniversary," a Yuhan official said. "We will continue to improve resource efficiency across the entire process, from product planning to production and packaging, and keep developing our circular economy model."
