GS Retail启动AI开放创新项目验证5家初创方案

GS Retail said on the 20th that it has launched a "field-centered AI transformation (AX)" project, teaming up with artificial intelligence (AI) startups to solve various challenges in retail business operations using AI technology.
GS Retail (007070.KS) held the fourth-round networking session of its open innovation program, "The GS Challenge Future Retail," at GS Gangnam Tower in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 16th, and began AI-based business validation projects with five finalist startups. This year's program was operated in a format where business divisions first defined the challenges to be solved, and then identified startups with suitable technology and execution capabilities. Building on the technology-centered collaboration experience accumulated in the first through third rounds, this year the company further strengthened the connection between business division challenges and startup technology.
GS Retail's business divisions and the startups will carry out validation projects incorporating AI technology through mid-November. The main tasks include using vision AI to analyze customer traffic flow and purchasing patterns at stores specializing in fresh food, and enhancing product search functions in line with the changing AI search environment. In addition, projects will be pursued to identify promising products by analyzing social media data and to nurture brands with high growth potential based on data related to influencers and fandoms.
GS Retail narrowed this year's participating companies to five to improve the results of its collaboration with startups. The company also strengthened its selection process, examining task suitability and on-site applicability in advance through preliminary meetings between business divisions and startups. It also plans to expand support for some projects by linking them with government support programs.
"The core of AX innovation with startups is connecting excellent technology to tangible customer value and business results," a GS Retail official said. "We will further develop Future Retail into an open innovation platform that connects the resolution of practical challenges with business application."
