Young Poong与EcoVit签署环保MOU推进石浦冶炼厂废弃物处理合作

Young Poong's (000670) Seokpo Smelter is joining hands with comprehensive environmental firm EcoVit to pursue a transition into an eco-friendly smelter.
Young Poong said on the 5th that it signed an environmental memorandum of understanding (MOU) with EcoVit on the 4th to build an eco-friendly smelter. Key executives from both companies, including Young Poong CEO Kim Ki-ho and EcoVit Vice Chairman Lim Byung-yong, attended the signing ceremony.
The agreement aims to entrust the Seokpo Smelter's smelting residues and general and designated waste to EcoVit, which holds the nation's top-level environmental technology, for swift and stable processing.
EcoVit operates and develops landfill facilities at eight locations nationwide, holding the No. 1 market share in the landfill sector. In particular, it has unrivaled technological capabilities and infrastructure across all environmental fields, including incineration, water treatment, soil remediation, and resource recovery.
The two companies plan to jointly pursue cooperation on the appropriate and safe consignment processing of smelting residues and industrial site waste, the sharing of empirical and technical information on environmental improvements within the smelter and the establishment of a cooperation system, as well as improving cost efficiency and securing safety.
Based on specialized technical collaboration, Young Poong plans to build a preemptive environmental management system and accelerate efforts to turn the Seokpo Smelter into a sustainable, eco-friendly smelter.
"The strategic partnership with EcoVit will be an important turning point that raises the processing speed of the Seokpo Smelter's smelting residues to a higher level," CEO Kim stressed. "We will continue to put into practice the Seokpo Smelter's environmental vision of being safe and eco-friendly."
