Shinhan Bank is teaming up with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and ChildFund Korea to add child meal card payments to the public delivery app Seoul Delivery+ Ddaenggyeoyo and to subsidize delivery fees.
The bank said on the 22nd it would sign an agreement on child meal delivery services at Seoul City Hall to support meals for children at risk of missing meals.
Attending the signing ceremony are Jun Sung-ho, head of Shinhan Bank's Ddaenggyeoyo business; Ma Chae-sook, director general of the Seoul city government's Women and Family Affairs Office; and Lee Seo-young, head of ChildFund Korea's Seoul regional headquarters.
The agreement adds child meal card payments to the Seoul Delivery+ Ddaenggyeoyo app and subsidizes delivery fees so children can obtain meals more easily. Until now, cardholders had to visit restaurants in person to pay, but the cards can now be used for delivery orders as well. The aim is to ease the psychological burden of using a meal card and widen children's choices.
Under the agreement, Shinhan Bank will build the payment system for Ddaenggyeoyo, operate the service and fund the meal program. The Seoul city government will inform eligible children and their guardians about the service and oversee the project. ChildFund Korea will distribute delivery coupons and connect the program with community resources and support.
The service starts on the 16th of next month for children aged 14 and older who use the Dreamtree Card, Seoul's child meal card. After registering the meal card in the Ddaenggyeoyo menu of Shinhan Bank's Super SOL app, users can order and pay for food at about 20,000 participating restaurants marked for child meal service. The program will run as a pilot in November and December before becoming a permanent service next year.
The partners also set up benefits to reduce delivery costs. Shinhan Bank and the Seoul city government will each give participating children one 3,000-won delivery coupon, for a total of 6,000 won a month. Existing Seoul Delivery+ Ddaenggyeoyo benefits, including a welcome coupon pack worth 16,000 won for new members and discount events with more than 40 popular franchises each month, are also available depending on eligibility.
"We hope this agreement helps children use their meal cards more easily and choose the meals they want," a Shinhan Bank official said. "We will continue to work with local governments and welfare organizations to expand the role of public delivery apps and provide services the community needs."
Separately, to mark reaching 10 million members, Ddaenggyeoyo is running a promotion from the 1st of this month through the end of the year in which Shinhan Bank covers the full delivery fee for customers using its Ddaengbaedal service.
