Yuhan拟注销4253.37亿韩元库存股，占普通股7.6%

Yuhan Corporation will cancel all of its treasury shares to enhance shareholder value. The company had originally set a target of canceling 1% of its issued shares by 2027.
Yuhan held a board meeting on the 23rd and disclosed that it will cancel 425.337 billion won worth of previously acquired treasury shares. The volume to be canceled amounts to 7.6% of the total number of issued common shares (79,647,601 shares) and 2.8% of preferred shares (1,180,940 shares), representing all of the treasury shares the company had held. The cancellation amount was calculated based on the closing prices on the day before the board resolution: 70,200 won for common shares and 58,400 won for preferred shares.
Yuhan explained that the reason for the cancellation was "to enhance shareholder value." Treasury share cancellation is considered a representative shareholder return measure that boosts earnings per share (EPS) and per-share value by reducing the number of shares in circulation. If a company merely holds treasury shares, the possibility of future resale remains, raising overhang concerns. When shares are canceled, that volume disappears permanently, making it a strong shareholder return measure.
In 2024, Yuhan announced it would cancel 802,090 shares, or 1% of its issued shares, by 2027. After the announcement, the company canceled 240,627 shares (about 36.2 billion won) in May 2025 and canceled an additional 320,836 shares (25.3 billion won) in January this year.
"The treasury share cancellation is part of implementing the previously announced corporate value enhancement plan," a Yuhan official said. "We plan to continue our efforts to enhance shareholder value."
