Samsung C&T's (028260.KS) fashion division reported second-quarter revenue of 593 billion won, up 16.3% from a year earlier, and operating profit of 54 billion won, up 63.6%, according to a preliminary earnings disclosure on the 29th.
A recovery in consumer sentiment, stronger product competitiveness and improved operational efficiency drove the earnings gains. Sales of both in-house and imported brands rose evenly, achieving improvements in revenue and profitability at the same time.
The fashion division said it plans to continue focusing on strengthening brand competitiveness in the second half. "While internal and external uncertainties such as weakening consumer sentiment are expected in the second half, we will work toward annual revenue growth and profitability improvement," a company official said.
