KB Kookmin Bank said on the 2nd that it will supply 15.2 trillion won ($11 billion) to small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
The bank plans to provide 6.2 trillion won in new loans and extend maturities on 9 trillion won in existing loans for small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners struggling with a temporary increase in funding needs.
The loan limit is up to 1 billion won per business. To ease repayment burdens, the bank will allow borrowers to extend loans at maturity without partial principal repayment, and will also offer additional financial support such as deferrals of installment payments. Preferential interest rates of up to 1.5 percentage points will apply to new loans and maturity extensions.
"We prepared this support to ease the funding strains facing small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners during the Chuseok holiday and to help stabilize their operations," an official at KB Kookmin Bank said. "We will continue to closely examine financing needs on the ground and provide the support that is needed."
