Genians (263860), a cybersecurity specialist, achieved its highest first-half results since its founding this year, driven by a surge in security demand stemming from artificial intelligence (AI) threats.
Genians said on the 4th that its first-half revenue on a consolidated basis reached 24.92 billion won, up 19.9% from 20.78 billion won in the same period a year earlier. Operating profit recorded 4.31 billion won, surging 294.3% from 1.093 billion won posted in the same period last year.
The company explained that it simultaneously raised revenue stability and profitability through the growth of its core NAC (network access control) and EDR (endpoint detection and response) businesses, along with the expansion of software-as-a-service (SaaS) businesses such as cloud NAC and MDR (managed detection and response). In the NAC segment, orders from public institutions and large private enterprises expanded, while revenue from small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) grew more than twofold. The EDR segment, having ranked first in the public procurement market for seven consecutive years, maintained the top position in the first half of this year as well.
Service-based businesses also showed growth. The number of cloud NAC customers surpassed 299 companies, up 26% from the same period a year earlier. The number of clients for the MDR service, which targets companies lacking dedicated security personnel, more than doubled from last year. In its global business, revenue in the Middle East increased by more than 50%, and cumulative overseas clients surpassed 200.
Securing references for companies adopting both antivirus (AV) and EDR simultaneously was another key achievement. "Genian Home," a generational network separation solution launched earlier this year, secured a large apartment complex in the Seoul metropolitan area as its first customer.
Genians expects security demand to continue in the second half as security threats such as autonomous hacking using generative AI grow more sophisticated. In addition, Genians has completed the development of core technology for a "quantum security gateway" to fundamentally block hacking threats in the quantum computing era, with a launch planned within the year. This technology combines the latest post-quantum cryptography (PQC) technology on a zero-trust architecture. Using this as a foothold, the company plans to make a full-scale entry into future high-value-added quantum security markets such as AI, cloud, and autonomous driving.
Lee Dong-bum, CEO of Genians, said, "Amid intelligent and automated AI cyber threats, we have proven the market's trust through unrivaled technological capabilities and tangible financial performance." He added, "We will complete our AI development roadmap without setbacks and focus on securing next-generation technologies such as quantum security to continue driving growth at the forefront of cybersecurity in the second half as well."
