Samsung SDI Co., Ltd. held a ceremony on July 1 to mark the 56th anniversary of its founding.
​The company said it hosted the anniversary event at its Giheung headquarters in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
​CEO Choi Yoon-ho said the company had spent the past year strengthening its fundamentals with what he described as "pessimistic optimism," adding that he expects Samsung SDI to achieve an earnings turnaround this year.
​Choi highlighted a series of recent business achievements, including orders for energy storage system (ESS) projects, battery supply agreements with global premium electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers, and progress in high-value growth businesses such as advanced semiconductor packaging materials and display materials.
​He also emphasized the importance of artificial intelligence (AI). "To secure leadership in future markets, Samsung SDI must transform itself into an AI-native company," Choi said. "Agentic AI represents a paradigm shift that will fundamentally change both the way we work and our business models."
​The anniversary event included an awards ceremony and a meeting attended by senior executives, recipients of the company's SDI Award, and employees recognized for long-term service.
