不做 KakaoBank(323410.KS)

市场反应:KakaoBank(323410.KS)7月31日收涨约1.38%,未出现负面定价。

KakaoBank's labor union has announced another full-scale strike, prompting criticism that the internet-only lender is putting its public role as a financial institution on the back burner as a large staffing gap becomes unavoidable.
The Kakao chapter of the Korean Federation of Chemical, Textile and Food Industry Trade Unions said on the 20th that it would stage a five-day general strike from the 31st through the 4th, with 100% of KakaoBank's union members taking part. KakaoBank has about 1,000 union members, more than half of its total workforce of 1,843 as of the end of the first half of this year.
The KakaoBank union previously held single-day strikes on the 31st of last month and on the 14th. Those, however, were taken as annual leave and did not involve all union members.
Should the strike go ahead, service gaps are likely. The union itself said that "once continuous strikes begin, the greater risk is not an immediate system shutdown but a buildup of backlogged work and weakening response capacity over time," adding that "there is a possibility of effects such as delays in handling complaints, backlogs in loan reviews, and staffing shortages when disruptions occur."
This has drawn criticism that the bank is turning its back on its public and social responsibilities as a financial platform whose customers include more than half of the country's population. KakaoBank had 27.63 million customers and 20.32 million monthly active users (MAU) as of the end of the first half of this year. An official in the financial sector said the union "appears to take lightly the role of a bank that carries a public character."
KakaoBank's executives and staff receive high levels of compensation. CEO Yun Ho-young received 8.2 billion won ($5.9 million) in the first half alone, including gains from exercising stock options. Employees' average annual salary last year was 125 million won, higher than at the four largest banks.
A KakaoBank official said, "We will activate a response system to prevent customer inconvenience and do our utmost to provide services stably," adding, "We will continue talks with the union and work toward an amicable resolution."
