Flight attendants at Canada's WestJet Airlines on Thursday gave 72 hours' notice that they would strike during the busy summer travel season, if a last-minute deal is not reached with the country's second-largest carrier.
Cabin crew at the Calgary-based carrier, owned by Onex Corp (ONEX.TO), can strike as early as August 2, at 12:01 am Mountain Time, if talks fail to overcome a dispute over unpaid work and produce an agreement, the union said in a Facebook post.
The union, which represents WestJet flight attendants, is asking for crew to be paid from the time they check in to when they clock out, which is not currently the case.
