Lotte Department Store said on the 26th that it will remodel the food hall at its flagship Jamsil store in Seoul, marking the first full-scale upgrade of the basement-level hall since 2017.
The company plans a phased renovation aimed at creating a 3,400-pyeong (about 11,240-square-meter) "world-class luxury gastronomy hall" that handles everything from everyday grocery shopping to high-end dining experiences. The grand opening is scheduled for the first half of 2028.
The project is the first step in a broader overhaul of the entire Jamsil flagship building. Lotte Department Store said it will strengthen premium dining content targeting VIP customers to develop the store into a hub for high-end gastronomy.
The food hall will be divided into an "EATS" zone for luxury dining experiences and a "BUY" zone where shoppers can purchase or gift premium food items. The BUY zone will be further segmented into a premium supermarket, a takeout section and a food gift section. A dessert hall and the premium supermarket are set to open in 2027, with dining spaces to follow in 2028.
Design work will be handled by Roman and Williams, the U.S. design studio behind the interiors of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
