HJ Shipbuilding & Construction (097230) is making a full-fledged move into sports marketing by acquiring a women's professional golf team.
HJ Shipbuilding said on the 27th that it held a launch ceremony for the "HJ Shipbuilding Golf Team" at its headquarters in Namyeong-dong, Seoul, on the 24th.
The team consists of five players: KLPGA members Park Ji-young, Hong Jung-min and Cho A-yeon, second-tier tour player Kim Min-seo, and high school prospect Park Seo-jin. The players will compete in major domestic and international tournaments bearing the HJ Shipbuilding logo, including the Aurora World Championship, the first event of the second half of the year.
"Through operating the golf team, we are drawing a blueprint in which the company, players, customers and local community grow together," an HJ Shipbuilding official said. "We will organically link sports marketing, environmental, social and governance (ESG) activities, and community contribution programs to raise HJ Shipbuilding's unique brand value and social value together."
HJ Shipbuilding has been pursuing the acquisition of players from the Korea Land Trust golf team since early this year, with the goal of developing domestic professional sports and enhancing its brand value.
