Korean Air (003490) has joined Asiana Airlines (020560) in a community outreach program aimed at helping young people explore career paths and raising awareness of safety.
An education volunteer corps formed by the two carriers held a career lecture on pilot and cabin crew jobs for about 30 students at Gochon Middle School in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, on the 26th, the companies said on the 27th.
A Korean Air pilot explained the role and main duties of flight crew, while an Asiana cabin attendant shared the responsibilities of cabin crew and experiences from the field. The session also included a question-and-answer segment and mentoring to help students clear up questions about aviation careers and firm up their plans.
Earlier, on the 24th, the two airlines held an aviation career lecture program called "Dream Talk" for about 80 young people at the National Aviation Museum of Korea in Seoul's Gangseo district, marking the week commemorating Aviation Day. A Korean Air pilot and an Asiana cabin attendant each spoke on the roles and characteristics of their jobs and their experiences on the job.
On the 17th, the carriers held a career lecture on cabin and flight crew jobs for about 100 young people at Mapo Central Library in Seoul's Mapo district, in cooperation with the Mapo Career and Job Experience Support Center. A Korean Air cabin attendant presented the main roles and duties of cabin crew, while an Asiana pilot introduced the work of a pilot and flight operations, sharing field experiences to help students understand the jobs.
The two companies are also supporting local communities. On the 22nd, as part of a volunteer program called "Two Hands Together," in which employees take part in giving activities, they supported visits by children to the Magok Safety Experience Center in Seoul's Gangseo district.
"This outreach effort is meaningful in that employees of both companies share their expertise and experience to support the growth of future generations and strengthen ties with the local community," a Korean Air official said. "We will continue to offer young people a range of opportunities to explore careers and to carry on giving activities that let us grow together with the community."
