The National Growth Fund has decided to provide a 55 billion won low-interest loan to Techwing, a manufacturer of test equipment dedicated to high-bandwidth memory (HBM). It will also supply a 1.5 trillion won low-interest loan for LG Display's investment in new organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology facilities.
The Financial Services Commission (FSC) said on the 30th that it had approved support for the two facility investments involving Techwing and LG Display through the National Growth Fund's fund management review committee. The National Growth Fund has now completed a cumulative 16.3 trillion won in approvals.
Techwing, based in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, applied for an advanced strategic industry fund loan while pursuing an expansion of its next-generation HBM-dedicated test equipment. The company has earned recognition for its technological capabilities, supplying semiconductor test handling equipment to firms such as Samsung Electronics and SK hynix and exclusively supplying equipment capable of full inspection of individual HBM chips.
"This is a strategic investment to strengthen the competitiveness of the supply chains for displays and memory semiconductors, which are the nation's key export industries," an FSC official said.
