KB金融集团受邀参加AWS高管简报中心，探讨扩大AI银行技术合作

KB Financial Group (105560) is moving to expand cooperation with Amazon Web Services in artificial intelligence. At AWS's invitation, the group plans to meet the U.S. cloud provider's head-office executives to discuss technology cooperation aimed at upgrading AI-based services.
KB Financial is arranging to attend AWS's Executive Briefing Center, or EBC, a technology cooperation program for corporate executives, later this month, according to financial industry sources on the 26th. Executives and working-level staff in charge of AI at KB Financial Group and KB Kookmin Bank are expected to join the trip.
The EBC brings together corporate executives and technology chiefs with AWS executives and specialists to discuss the direction of business cooperation. The visit was proposed by AWS after it took interest in how KB Financial built its AI development framework, according to sources.
The two companies have worked together since 2020, when KB Financial became the first South Korean financial group to sign a corporate contract with AWS for the use of financial cloud services. The aim was to diversify cloud providers to improve service stability and to apply AWS's new technologies to financial services more quickly. Through the deal, KB Financial laid the groundwork for using multiple clouds in parallel, including adding AWS to the group's cloud platform, Cleon. It now runs more than 2,000 servers and more than 100 services in the AWS cloud environment.
Cooperation has recently widened into AI. AWS's generative AI platform, Amazon Bedrock, allows financial firms to use external AI models such as Anthropic's Claude within AWS's security and management framework, without developing their own models. KB Financial is pursuing innovative financial services at individual affiliates that link internal systems with Amazon Bedrock. They include an AI-powered tailored investment product information service at KB Asset Management, an AI development and operations platform for employees at KB Securities, and a customized real estate information service at KB Kookmin Bank.
A flagship example is the KB AI Dev Center, a dedicated AI software development unit that KB Kookmin Bank launched in July this year. Developers describe the functions they want in everyday language, and AI analyzes the request and supports everything from design to coding and testing. AWS provided technical support in building the AI-based development environment and monitoring framework for the center, according to sources.
Beyond AWS, KB Financial is expanding cooperation with global big tech companies to accelerate AI transformation across the group, broadening its focus from building cloud infrastructure to AI development and operations. In July, it worked with Google Cloud to develop KB Davis, a Gemini-based data analytics AI, and KB Star Byeoli, a customer consultation AI. As AI services within the group diversify, technology that connects various internal data sets is also becoming more important. KB Kookmin Bank is therefore working to build an environment that links AWS, Google Cloud and its internal AI systems so that needed data can be shared.
At the EBC, KB Financial plans to discuss additional technical support to upgrade its AI development framework and improve operational efficiency, as well as how overseas financial firms are using AI. "The EBC is a venue for discussing cooperation directly with senior AWS officials, and being invited is itself meaningful," a KB Financial official said. "We plan to look at the scope for cooperation, including sharing global best practices and areas where we can receive additional technical support." The official added that the group is working to stay ahead in AI.
