LG Chem (051910.KS) is stepping up its push into the European market with high-value materials for next-generation vehicles.
The company said on the 27th that it will take part in the International Suppliers Fair (IZB) 2026, held from Oct. 27 to 29 in Wolfsburg, Germany.
IZB is a biennial trade fair for global automotive parts makers and suppliers. It began as an exhibition for Volkswagen Group suppliers and has since grown into an international event where major suppliers and parts and materials companies meet to explore business opportunities. This year's edition is expected to draw about 850 companies from some 33 countries and more than 40,000 visitors.
LG Chem will be the only Korean materials company on the IZB floor this year, after receiving an invitation from Volkswagen Group. The appearance follows an expansion of ties between the two companies built on a memorandum of understanding on joint development of next-generation vehicle materials signed in September.
The company's booth is organized around the theme of powering customer innovation. It will showcase core materials solutions and technologies for future mobility in areas European automakers have focused on recently, including eco-friendly products, electrification, high performance and stronger cost competitiveness.
The lineup centers on a portfolio of high-value materials ranging from lightweighting solutions such as metal-replacement and paint-free materials to interior and exterior parts made with recycled materials, materials that delay battery thermal runaway, and suspended glass film (SGF) that adjusts transparency in vehicle glass. The aim is to deepen work with existing customers while finding new customers and business opportunities.
LG Chem also plans to hold sessions for visiting executives from major customers, introducing ways to improve sustainability using paint-free and recycled materials along with solutions for strengthening cost competitiveness.
In addition, QR codes linked to each product will provide artificial intelligence docent audio explaining the properties and functions of each material. The company has also built a dedicated website for electric mobility to maintain contact with customers after the fair.
"This exhibition is an important opportunity to strengthen cooperation in next-generation vehicle materials, with global customers including Volkswagen Group recognizing LG Chem's technology and product capabilities," said Kim Sang-min, a vice president at LG Chem. "Based on differentiated materials solutions and technology, we will lead high-value mobility innovation of the future."
