+61% upside, this growing AI-picked healthcare leader is trading at 52-week lows
Investing.com - U.S. stock index futures fell on Wednesday as investors turned cautious ahead of a crucial slate of second-quarter technology earnings and monitored the risk of a widening conflict in the Middle East, while upbeat preliminary results from Super Micro Computer provided a boost to AI-related stocks.
By 05:41 ET (09:41 GMT), Dow Jones Futures fell 52 points, or 0.1%, S&P 500 Futures slipped 22 points, or 0.3%, and Nasdaq 100 Futures dropped 209 points, or 0.7%.
Markets have struggled for direction after a strong run in recent weeks, with investors now looking to upcoming results from major technology companies to justify elevated valuations tied to the artificial intelligence boom. Geopolitical uncertainty also remained in focus as traders tracked developments in the Middle East.
Here are some of the biggest premarket U.S. stock movers today:
Super Micro Computer surged about 15% in premarket trading after the AI server maker released a blockbuster preliminary fourth-quarter update that pointed to record demand and a sharp improvement in profitability.
While Super Micro projected quarterly revenue near the lower end of its previously guided range, investors focused on the company’s expected GAAP and non-GAAP gross margins of 15% to 17%, a significant improvement that reset expectations around profitability. The stock had rallied about 20% in after-hours trading following the announcement before giving back part of those gains.
Reddit fell 5.8% after a Wall Street Journal report said the social media platform was considering blocking Alphabet’s Google from using Reddit content to train artificial intelligence models as negotiations over a renewal of their data-licensing agreement continue. The current agreement, signed in 2024, is reportedly worth around $60 million annually.
GE Vernova slipped 5.3% after the power equipment maker reported second-quarter results. Despite expectations for strong earnings and revenue growth, investors appeared to take profits after a strong rally in the stock, with its premium valuation leaving little room for disappointment.
AT&T gained 2.5% after the telecom giant reported second-quarter earnings that beat Wall Street expectations. Earnings came in at $0.65 per share versus estimates of $0.59, while revenue rose 2.3% year-on-year to $31.6 billion. The company also reported stronger free cash flow and accelerating subscriber growth.
Cal-Maine Foods dropped 3.5% after the largest U.S. egg producer posted a wider-than-expected fiscal fourth-quarter loss. The company reported a loss of $0.76 per share, compared with expectations for a loss of $0.11, while revenue of $552.6 million also missed forecasts, highlighting the sharp deterioration in shell egg market conditions.
