U.S. launches fresh strikes on Iran as fighting intensifies across Middle East
IRVINE, Calif. - Lantronix Inc. (NASDAQ:LTRX) announced today a collaboration with Swarmer, Inc. (NASDAQ:SWMR) to develop a custom compute platform for small drones used in defense applications, according to a press release statement.
The platform will be based on Lantronix’s Open-Q 6490CS System-on-Module and is designed to support Swarmer’s autonomy software on Group 1 unmanned aerial systems. The companies stated the solution will provide more than 400% increased onboard computing power compared to current platforms.
"Autonomy software only proves itself once it’s deployed on hardware that’s actually flying," said Saleel Awsare, president and CEO of Lantronix. "A production-ready NDAA-compliant Lantronix compute platform with Swarmer’s combat-proven software provides operators with roughly four times the processing power to optimize its visual navigation, automated target recognition, pixel lock and advanced teaming algorithms."
Swarmer, founded in Austin, Texas, in May 2023, deployed its autonomy software in combat operations in Ukraine in April 2024. The company stated its technology has supported more than 100,000 combat missions across nearly 50 Ukrainian military units.
Alex Fink, president and U.S. CEO of Swarmer, said the collaboration will produce a compute platform capable of running AI models on small unmanned systems. "We believe this will become the new industry standard compute solution for small unmanned systems, and every unit will arrive pre-populated with Swarmer OS and Swarmer’s cutting-edge autonomy," Fink stated.
The platform is designed to support multiple drone types, including fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, ground vehicles and sea vessels. Lantronix stated the solution includes NDAA compliance and a 10-year-plus production commitment.
Both companies indicated they are focused on accelerating deployment of small drones for Ukraine, U.S. and allied defense programs.
