Oil falls over 4% as Trump calls off Iran strike, announces fresh talks
SEATTLE - Omeros Corporation (NASDAQ:OMER) announced that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has granted New Technology Add-On Payment status for YARTEMLEA (narsoplimab-wuug) under the Fiscal Year 2027 Hospital Inpatient Prospective Payment System Final Rule, according to a press release statement.
Starting October 1, 2026, eligible hospitals treating Medicare patients with YARTEMLEA for hematopoietic stem cell transplant-associated thrombotic microangiopathy will receive up to $287,079 in additional reimbursement per eligible Medicare inpatient. The payments are made to hospitals and do not affect the amount Omeros receives for the drug.
YARTEMLEA is the FDA-approved treatment for TA-TMA, a complication of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Approximately 30% of patients undergoing allogeneic HCT in the United States are Medicare beneficiaries.
The NTAP program provides additional reimbursement to eligible hospitals for new technologies before their costs are fully reflected in standard hospital payment rates.
"This additional reimbursement should help ensure that treatment decisions for Medicare patients are guided by clinical need rather than constrained by reimbursement considerations," said Gregory A. Demopulos, chairman and chief executive officer of Omeros.
TA-TMA is a complication of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in adults and children. Recent studies estimate that TA-TMA develops in up to 56% of allogeneic transplant recipients. Approximately 30,000 allogeneic transplants are performed annually in the U.S. and Europe.
YARTEMLEA is a monoclonal antibody that inhibits mannan-binding lectin-associated serine protease-2, the effector enzyme of the lectin pathway. The drug is approved by the U.S. FDA for the treatment of TA-TMA in adults and children two years of age and older. Omeros is pursuing approval from the European Medicines Agency.
