Wall Street opens higher as oil prices and Treasury yields continue to let up
SANTA ROSA, Calif. - Keysight Technologies Inc. (NYSE:KEYS) announced a research collaboration with the Centre for Assuring Autonomy at the University of York to develop validation methods for artificial intelligence systems in software-defined vehicles.
The partnership will focus on creating practical methods for validating AI systems and generating evidence to demonstrate their safety and reliability, according to a press release statement. The research aims to help automakers and suppliers meet industry requirements for AI-enabled automotive systems.
The collaboration will work on developing evidence-driven approaches to support implementation of ISO/PAS 8800 requirements, exploring safety-scoring methodologies, and creating frameworks for generating auditable AI safety evidence. The methodologies are intended to support the process of building AI safety cases throughout the product lifecycle.
The University of York conducts research in safety engineering and assurance of complex systems across transport and automotive domains. The collaboration combines the university’s academic expertise with Keysight’s AI validation techniques.
"The automotive industry is at a pivotal point where AI technologies are becoming increasingly integral to vehicle functionality," said Simon Burton, Chair in Systems Safety at the University of York. "Ensuring these systems can be evaluated using robust, evidence-based approaches is essential."
Lukas Klose, Head of the Automotive AI Solution Center at Keysight, said the partnership aims to develop methodologies that help engineering teams generate structured evidence for AI safety cases and support deployment of AI technologies in conformance with international standards such as ISO/PAS 8800.
The research is expected to inform future development of Keysight’s AI Software Integrity Builder and enable support for AI safety arguments and validation activities aligned with automotive industry expectations.
