) announced that Armenia’s Ministry of Health has granted marketing authorizations for Botvymo (botensilimab) and Evamplix (balstilimab) for use in combination to treat adult patients with microsatellite stable metastatic colorectal cancer without active liver metastases who have previously received standard therapies, according to a press release statement.
The approvals, effective October 2, mark the first marketing authorizations for either medicine globally. Armenia conducted a review of the complete registration dossier covering product quality, manufacturing, nonclinical data, clinical efficacy and safety data, and pharmacovigilance systems.
Under the approved regimen, Botvymo is administered at 75 mg intravenously every six weeks for up to four doses, combined with Evamplix at 240 mg intravenously every two weeks for up to two years or until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity occurs.
Each marketing authorization is conditional and valid for one year, renewable based on annual clinical updates provided to Armenian regulators.
The approvals were supported by clinical evidence from the Phase 1b C-800-01 study and the randomized Phase 2 C-800-25 study. Results have been published in Nature Medicine and Clinical Cancer Research and presented at oncology conferences including the ASCO Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium.
Botensilimab is an Fc-enhanced anti-CTLA-4 antibody designed to activate innate and adaptive antitumor immune responses. Balstilimab is an anti-PD-1 antibody designed to sustain antitumor T-cell activity. The combination has been studied in over 1,500 patients across more than nine tumor types.
Agenus stated it will evaluate potential marketing authorizations in other Eurasian Economic Union member countries.
The approved product information includes warnings for immune-mediated adverse reactions such as colitis, diarrhea, hepatitis, pneumonitis, endocrinopathies, nephritis, myocarditis and pancreatitis, as well as infusion-related reactions.
