TUCSON, Ariz. - Raytheon, a business unit of RTX (
NYSE:RTX
), completed three tests of its Coyote Block 2C+RM interceptor upgrades, according to a press release statement issued today.
The company said the developmental testing events occurred 15 months after the program moved from concept phase. Raytheon funded the development internally to support U.S. military counter-drone operations.
The upgraded interceptor incorporates a rocket motor designed to enable faster launch and flight speeds, along with a new seeker and warhead. The modifications build on the existing Coyote platform, which the company said has intercepted hundreds of drones.
