) announced Monday its 1.6T ZeroFlap active light cable, an optical interconnect solution for AI scale-out and front-end networks.
The cable uses micro-emitters and photodetectors with fiber bundles in a pluggable form factor, according to a company press release. The product is designed to consume 12W per cable-end and reach distances up to 50 meters with a target mean time between failures of 100 million hours.
The technology splits 200G lanes into multiple low-rate optical channels using NRZ modulation. Credo stated the cable draws approximately 30% less power than comparable active electrical cables, weighs one-tenth as much, and extends reach to 50 meters for row-scale connectivity.
