) introduced the AMD Helion agentic AI rack on Monday, an open blueprint for agentic AI infrastructure based on an Open Compute Project specification and powered by AMD compute.
The rack design allows customers to configure CPU core density, performance and power for agentic workloads, according to a press release statement. Configurations include CPU-only setups for hyperscale deployments and integrated CPU/GPU configurations for enterprises.
AMD Helion supports both liquid- and air-cooled versions. A CPU-only rack powered by 6th Gen AMD EPYC processors can support up to 32,768 CPU cores, designed for hyperscale customers providing dedicated capacity for agent execution. An all-in-one rack combines AMD EPYC CPU nodes, AMD Instinct MI350P GPU nodes and general-purpose compute on one platform for enterprise agentic AI.
"Agentic AI is not a single workload," said Dan McNamara, senior vice president and general manager, Compute and Enterprise AI at AMD. "It spans personal agents, enterprise applications, code execution and complex workflows, each with different compute requirements."
AMD plans to contribute the AMD Helion specification to OCP for community development and adoption. The company stated that AMD Helion agentic rack configurations are currently under development with ecosystem partners.
Partners supporting the initiative include Cisco, Dell Technologies, Hon Hai Technology Group, HPE, Lenovo, QCT, Supermicro and Wiwynn. The configurations are planned to be available in November 2026.
The rack blueprint is based on AMD’s open-platform approach from the AMD Helios rackscale solution and includes an integrated token router that directs agents’ model calls across frontier and open-source models.
