Tech earnings ahead this week amid AI jitters; oil slips - what’s moving markets
INDIANAPOLIS - Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE:LLY) announced today that its drug Omvoh met the primary endpoint in a Phase 3 study for pediatric patients with ulcerative colitis, according to a press release statement.
The SHINE-2 study evaluated Omvoh in 63 patients ages 4 to 17 with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis. Results showed 81% of patients achieved clinical response at Week 12. Among responders, 50% achieved clinical remission at Week 52, meeting the study’s primary endpoint.
The trial enrolled a population with significant prior treatment experience, with 54% having previously failed biologic therapy. Half of patients entered the study with severe disease activity as measured by the Pediatric Ulcerative Colitis Activity Index.
Key secondary outcomes at one year included 50% of responders achieving corticosteroid-free clinical remission without surgery, 71.2% achieving symptomatic remission, and 53.8% showing endoscopic improvement.
The safety profile in pediatric patients was consistent with that observed in adults, with no new safety signals identified. The most common adverse events were upper respiratory tract infection, injection site reaction, ulcerative colitis, headache, nasopharyngitis and anemia. Through Week 52, four patients experienced a serious adverse event, none considered related to treatment. Two patients discontinued due to ulcerative colitis flare.
Omvoh is currently approved for adults with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis in 47 countries. The company plans to submit the pediatric data to global regulators to support a potential label expansion.
Ulcerative colitis affects more than 26,000 children and adolescents in the U.S. Pediatric-onset disease is often more extensive and severe than adult-onset disease, with up to half of children becoming dependent on corticosteroids and up to one-third requiring surgery within a year.
The results were presented at United European Gastroenterology Week 2026 in Barcelona.
