SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland - Aptiv PLC (NYSE:APTV) announced Wednesday an expansion of its collaboration with NVIDIA to deliver automated-driving solutions using NVIDIA Hyperion and NVIDIA Halos safety system, according to a press release statement.
The partnership combines NVIDIA Hyperion with Aptiv’s platforms and industrialization capabilities to create solutions for deploying automated-driving features across vehicle segments. The collaboration aims to address cost barriers in highly automated vehicle adoption.
The companies said they achieved air cooling for NVIDIA Thor-based computing platforms, which they described as an industry first for Thor-based systems. This thermal management approach is designed to reduce system costs for vehicle manufacturers, particularly for internal combustion vehicles.
"Automakers need a practical path to bring more advanced levels of automation to consumers at an accessible cost," said Sandeep Punater, Vice President of Product & Business Development, Autonomy at Aptiv.
The collaboration integrates NVIDIA Hyperion and NVIDIA Halos safety system into Aptiv’s modular compute architecture. The system supports customer in-house, Aptiv, NVIDIA, or third-party AI models. The open architecture allows automakers to maintain flexibility across sensors, software applications, AI models, and vehicle architectures.
"NVIDIA Hyperion and NVIDIA Halos safety system gives automakers a foundation to accelerate safe, production-ready autonomy," said Rishi Dhall, vice president of automotive at NVIDIA.
The announcement builds on previous collaborations between the companies. Aptiv previously announced support for NVIDIA Jetson Thor and NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano 2.
Aptiv said it plans to showcase AI-powered automated driving capabilities running on NVIDIA Hyperion at CES 2027.
