Cigna Healthcare, the insurance arm of Cigna (CI), on Thursday projected a $200M decrease in medical costs over three years as the company leverages AI-enabled capabilities and predictive analytics to drive a significant expansion in its personalized care management programs.
The new capabilities are expected to help Cigna Healthcare identify those who could benefit from earlier, personalized clinical support to manage their medical conditions more effectively.
The expansion is aimed at covering 20% more customers with complex or chronic health conditions, reducing the medical costs for engaged customers by $2,000 annually on average. The total savings are estimated at $200M for the next three years, Cigna Healthcare said.
"By combining predictive analytics, AI-enabled capabilities, and clinical expertise, we can identify health needs earlier and connect more customers with personalized support when it has the greatest impact,” added Bryan Holgerson, President of Cigna Healthcare U.S.
