ServiceNow (NOW) dodged the potholes that affected IBM (IBM) and Pegasystems (PEGA) in their latest earnings results and delivered another above-expectations quarter and outlook, prompting praise from an array of analysts.
"ServiceNow results and outlook managed to allay investor concerns on Software companies from a combination of specific negative prints from IBM and PEGA, and on a more long-term basis concerns around slowdown in growth from increasing displacement of use cases from higher AI leverage by Enterprise customers," said J.P. Morgan analysts, led by Samik Chatterjee, in a Thursday investor note.
The software giant's AI annual contract value remains on track to surpass its earlier guidance of reaching $1.5B by the end of 2026. J.P. Morgan reiterated its Buy rating and nudged its price target to $150 from $145.
RBC Capital Markets, which maintained its Outperform rating and $130 target, noted ServiceNow's increased relevancy in the cybersecurity space, as this segment of the business already generates more than $1B.
"Today, our risk and security business is the fastest growing of the top 10 cyber companies in the enterprise," ServiceNow CEO Bill McDermott said during the Wednesday evening earnings call. "I'll make it very clear. We now have a 10-figure cybersecurity business that's growing faster than all the other top cybersecurity companies."
This segment was recently bolstered by the acquisitions of Armis and Veza.
"On security, mgmt highlighted AI Control Tower as a key growth driver, with Sec & Risk included in 16 of the top 20 deals and 24 deals >$1M," said Jefferies analyst Samad Samana in a note.
Jefferies retained its Buy rating and inched up its target to $140 from $135.
Finally, Citi retained its Buy rating but slightly reduced its target to $154 from $156, noting a modest increase to the outlook.
"FY26 subscription revenue guidance was raised by $15M at the midpoint to $15,760–15,780M, below the 2Q beat, as roughly half the quarterly upside came from on-premise timing and wasn't carried through to the full year," Citi analysts noted. "Management flowed through the portion attributable to the NNACV overachievement; however, acknowledge a growing prudence in the guide given broader macro and geopolitical tensions."
ServiceNow shares increased 5.5% during early trading on Thursday. Competitors Salesforce (CRM) and SAP (SAP) had both inched up less than 1%. Atlassian (TEAM) was up 1.6%.
