Liberty Energy (LBRT) down 3.6% in early trading Thursday after saying it has formed a joint venture with land and data center developer PowerBridge to support the development of a planned 2 GW powered data center campus in West Texas, while also establishing a platform to pursue future opportunities in PowerBridge's portfolio.
Liberty (LBRT) said its Liberty Power Innovations subsidiary will design, develop, and operate scalable, modular power generation architecture for the project, with power quality management and grid optimization solutions.
The initial phase of the data center's development is expected to include more than 300 MW of generation capacity, with the potential for additional phases over time; first power at the site is anticipated in Q4 2027, with deployment expected to continue through H1 2028.
The project, which was announced in April, is planned to be sited on 3,400 acres in Reeves County, Texas.
Liberty Energy (LBRT) also reported Q2 adjusted earnings of $0.09/share that beat the analyst consensus estimate but were lower than $0.12 in the year-earlier quarter, and adjusted EBITDA of $151.1M fell 16% Y/Y.
