Roche (RHHBY) announced on Friday that it received U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance for its cobas BV/CV assay, a PCR-based test that detects bacterial vaginosis and Candida vaginitis from a single vaginal swab.
The test provides a faster and more accurate diagnosis than traditional methods, helping patients receive the right treatment sooner.
It works with both clinician-collected and clinician-guided self-collected samples in a healthcare setting.
The assay expands Roche's sexual health testing portfolio on its cobas 6800/8800 systems, allowing multiple tests to be performed from the same sample.
CEO Brad Moore said the new assay strengthens Roche's women's health portfolio and helps streamline care by delivering more accurate results and faster treatment decisions.
On the market side, the stock traded slightly higher at $54.10 in the premarket hours.
