Samsung announced plans to add native stablecoin support to Samsung Wallet, expanding the app beyond traditional payments and making it one of the first major smartphone brands to integrate stablecoins into a built-in mobile wallet.
The announcement was made during the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event on July 22, where Samsung said the wallet will expand beyond regular payments to support stablecoins, along with payments, rewards, and digital assets in one app.
The company has not announced when the feature will launch or which stablecoins will be supported. However, Samsung demonstrated a USDC (USDC-USD) interface with send, receive, and top-up features, suggesting the dollar-backed stablecoin could be among the first supported.
The company also said Wallet's financial features will be protected by Samsung Knox security with end-to-end encryption.
On the market side, Samsung Electronics shares fell 7.6% to ₩249,500 on Friday, as the company continued to expand its digital finance strategy
