指引高端下调和医保交易所逆风是真实负面,但二季度经营、现金流和Medicaid补充支付抵消明显,净影响不足以形成强做空催化。

HCA Healthcare (HCA) rose over 5% on Friday after posting better-than-expected second-quarter results. However, the upbeat results were slightly offset by the narrowed and reduced full-year guidance.
The hospital chain reported earnings of $7.59 per share, beating estimates by $0.09, on revenue of $20.23B, which came in $490M above Wall Street’s estimates.
The company operated 190 hospitals at the end of the quarter, slightly lower than 191 in the corresponding quarter last year. Same-facility admissions increased 2.5% Y/Y to 575,979.
Adjusted EBITDA increased 4.6% to $4.03B, and cash flows from operating activities totaled $2.34B.
The Nashville, Tennessee-headquartered firm narrowed and reduced the higher end of its revenue estimate to the range of $77B to $79B while it narrowed and reduced its EPS estimate between $28.70 and $30.50. The firm now expects adjusted EBITDA in the range of $15.40B to $16.10B, down slightly from its previous guidance.
During the second quarter, the company's payer mix was impacted by a rise in uninsured patients, largely driven by coverage losses on the health insurance exchanges. The shift had an unfavorable impact on income before income taxes of ~$400M during Q2. It also experienced a service mix shift primarily related to a decline in surgical volume.
On the positive side, HCA witnessed increased benefit from Medicaid Supplemental Payment Programs, growth in admissions, equivalent admissions and ER visits, and improved expense results. During the second quarter, the company recognized ~$400M of incremental net benefit from Medicaid Supplemental Payment Programs, primarily related to the state of Florida program.
For the full year, the company expects a $1B to $2B headwind from health insurance exchanges, partly offset by a $300M to $500M tailwind from Medicaid Supplemental Payment Programs.
HCA has also declared a quarterly dividend of $0.78/share, in line with its previous dividend.
HCA +3.25% to $388.75.
